Decoration

Don't imagine that the creative process for your product comes to an end the moment you choose the right bottle shape. Quite the opposite: the final touches have at least as much impact on the product image as the bottle shape itself. Today's customers love attention to detail – so it's essential to prove that you've got an eye for it.

For us, decorating i.e. finishing bottles may mean imprinting, or embossing as it’s known in the trade. We also offer 3D screen printing: decoration through UV screen printing, ceramic printing or inkjet printing directly on the bottle. Then there’s lacquering in an infinite array of colours and textures, as well as, of course, hot-foiling (also known as hot-foil stamping). Not to mention a wide variety of coating styles: matting, complete or partial lacquering, metallisation, and – last but not least – laser etching. Whatever you conceive can usually be achieved, as we like to say. All you have to do is ask, and we’ll be happy to explain.
Talking about finishing, it’s important to remember that this is an additional step in the project not usually carried out by the glassworks or the factory where the bottles come from. As such, a finishing process will naturally extend the length of our design process.
But this is time that is very well spent: after all, it’s this final touch that can put you ahead of the competition. Together we will create a visual masterpiece, a one-of-a-kind piece, something far out of the ordinary. We have put together an overview of all our decoration and finishing techniques to give you an idea of what happens in each process and what you can expect from it.

Screen printing

Embossing

In addition to messages or logos, it is also possible to cover the whole bottle in a pattern. You can have the base embossed with a signature or a symbol too. Embossing is a great way of transforming your product into an iconic eye-catcher and position it on the market with a great packaging concept. An embossed bottle leaves a lasting impression – in every sense of the term.

Screen printing

By this we mean UV screen printing or ceramic screen printing for returnable bottles. Screen printing is a well-known decorative technique. At Cristallo we use UV inks, ceramic inks and organic inks to decorate glass containers: they look unique and simply ooze quality. Screen printing can be combined with any decoration method available at our company to achieve a more unconventional effect.

Inkjet printing

Inkjet printing enables us to print on curved, concave, convex or engraved surfaces. So there's no longer anything standing in the way of a more sophisticated design. The technology also makes it possible to print photorealistic images on bottles and glass surfaces. An extraordinary appearance and entirely new creative possibilities give your design team much more room to play with.

3D screen printing

Embossing light
You could call this process glass embossing for smaller runs. It's a special screen printing technique that ensures your product feels just like real embossed glass. But... it employs an artificial liquid that is incredibly difficult to tell apart from real glass after it has hardened.

Hot-foil embossing

Hot-foil embossing comes from the 2D world. It proves very similar in function and effect on glass. It produces a splendid shine, whether across the whole surface or just in part. Whether you prefer a hint of understated decoration or something more comprehensive, this technique is synonymous with the most stylish and chic aspects of decoration. It can be applied to glass containers that are coated in water-based lacquers.

Coating

MATTING/LACQUERING/PARTIAL LACQUERING
Coating is bang on trend right now. That's no surprise – we coat our glass with environmentally-friendly water-based lacquers. Entire bottles or specific partial coatings using one or several colours – we will follow your design instructions to the letter. Special lacquers give your product the chance to shine in UV light, or transform your bottle with a wide range of effects (for example: pearl effect). The aforementioned "infinite" variety of colours is guaranteed. In fact, you can produce any colour following the Pantone Formula Guides. Thanks to coating, we can offer you the chance to explore far beyond the norm when it comes to decorating bottles. Pearl effect, soft-touch effect, frost effect, metallic effect... the list goes on.

Metallisation

As the name suggests, metallisation – whether transparent or opaque – ensures that your glass packaging exudes the finest air of quality. Emphasis is placed on individuality, and the packaging guarantees that your product rivals the competition at very first glance. This process also offers an opportunity to imitate completely different packaging materials.

Laser etching

Instead of the costlier cutting techniques, the same effects can be achieved with laser etching. Striking patterns, a relief-like effect – anything is possible. Whether on the bottle base, bottle neck or on raised or uneven surfaces, laser etching is generally possible.

Accessories

Special design ideas require a special finish, in addition to the actual decoration. Once again, we give your design team as much free rein as possible. Various accessories such as medallions, ribbons and aluminium labels are often used. Depending on the condition, the item and the application method, the "accessory" is applied either manually or automatically. Bearing this in mind, planned accessories are a topic of conversation in their own right and should be discussed early on in the process.
