How to clean your glasses

Most of our glasses are dishwasher friendly. This means that glasses with this additive can be washed in the dishwasher without hesitation. It is important that you select a program with a maximum of 50 degrees – a glassware program works best. Pans, pots or knives should not be placed in the dishwasher together with glasses so that the cookware does not come into contact with the glasses due to the water pressure. It is best to fix the glasses so that they do not rub against each other and the glass cannot be scratched. Particularly delicate glasses require particularly delicate treatment. Therefore, we recommend hand washing for delicate glasses such as thin-walled wine glasses or champagne glasses. Always use lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-neutral dishwashing detergent in liquid or powder form for washing. After cleaning, you should rinse your glasses thoroughly with water to remove all the soap. This will prevent streaks from appearing on the glasses when you polish them later.

Extra tip:

Whether you clean your glasses in the dishwasher or by hand, don't wait too long to do so after usage so that the contents don't leave any unwanted residue. Especially with spirits or wine glasses, be sure to rinse out the residue immediately.

How to polish your glasses

Polishing gives your glass that crystal clear look that makes it shine. It's best to let your glasses drip a bit after washing. Ideally, use two cloths for polishing – one for drying and one for touching to avoid leaving fingerprints when holding. Soft microfiber cloths are best for polishing – see extra tip! If you want to make sure there are no streaks, hold the glass over light steam before polishing. Finally, one last test: Hold the glass against the light and check it for streaks or fingerprints.

Tips for storing your glasses

To keep your glasses clean and shiny after cleaning and polishing until the next use, there are also a few things to keep in mind when storing them. It's best to store your glasses in a closed cabinet to keep them from getting dusty. It's also a good idea to rotate your glasses regularly, meaning don't always use the same glasses, so that unused jars don't "go blind", become milky or dull from dust or other substances.
